Benfica lead the race to sign Dženan Pejčinović

SL Benfica are leading the race to sign Wolfsburg forward Dženan Pejčinović (21), according to a report from Kicker.

Pejčinović has played 34 times for the Wolves this season, returning 12 goals and one assist across all competitions, including a goal in the promotion/relegation play-off defeat against Paderborn. As a result of Wolfsburg’s relegation, the German youth international may be attainable for interested clubs, with Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt and Freiburg all in the hunt for the 190cm attacker.

Despite Benfica leading the way, Pejčinović, per Kicker, would rather stay in Germany, ideally in the top flight. However, with a contract until 2029 and no exit clause, it would take a bid in excess of €20m to sign the German forward, as Wolfsburg want to keep their goal-getter as they bid to return to the Bundesliga at the first time of asking.
