The hidden reasons for Real Madrid’s surprise statement on Michael Olise

“Faced with the information published in various media concerning an alleged interest of our club in the Bayern Munich player Michael Olise, Real Madrid CF would like to clarify that it has not maintained any direct or indirect contact with the said player, his representatives or people in his entourage. Real Madrid would also like to highlight the excellent institutional relationship it maintains with Bayern Munich, with which it shares a long history of mutual respect, collaboration and admiration, and regrets the dissemination of speculation that does not correspond to reality.. On Saturday, to everyone’s surprise, Real Madrid published an official press release on Michael Olise.
A surprising decision, as was already the case with Julian Alvarez, since Real Madrid does not have the habit of speaking out, and even less officially, on transfer window rumors. Questions also arise: does this press release mean that the Merengues will not try for Michael Olise? Clearly not… First of all, Real Madrid do not deny their interest in the player. He just denies any contact with the winger’s entourage.
Real Madrid are still on Olise
As indicated Mundo DeportivoReal Madrid mainly published this press release to protect itself from FIFA transfer regulations. Article 18 of the regulations in question stipulates that clubs cannot contact a player without notifying and obtaining authorization from the club to which the player in question belongs. The Merengues therefore want to avoid any possible complaint from Bayern Munich.
A strategy which also aims to avoid alienating the leaders of Bayern with a view to possible – and even probable – negotiations with the German team for a transfer of the Frenchman, and not having to discuss with Germans who are stung and annoyed. One thing is certain: this series is far from over. Quite the contrary: it’s only just beginning!
