a defender will land for 61 million euros
According to information from Sky SportsTottenham have reached an agreement with Jan Paul van Hecke to strengthen their central defense. Spurs will pay around £52 million, or nearly €61 million, to secure the services of the Brighton defender. One year from the end of his contract, the 26-year-old Dutch international has made it clear that he wants to reunite with his former coach Roberto De Zerbi, with whom he had already worked at the Seagulls between 2023 and 2024.
This operation represents enormous added value for Brighton, who had recruited Van Hecke for only 1.8 million pounds (around 2.1 million euros) from the Dutch club NAC Breda in 2020. After the free arrival of Marcos Senesi, this transfer is part of De Zerbi’s desire to reshape the London rearguard with defenders capable of restarting cleanly and actively participating in the construction of the game.
