RC Lens, the transfer window is getting underway
Pierre Sage having left the ship, RC Lens is nonetheless seriously preparing for its 2026 summer transfer window.
After saying he would stay next season, Pierre Sage has finally decided to leave his position as coach of Racing Club de Lens. For Jean-Louis Leca and the rest of the Lens sports management, this departure in no way changes the work started on the summer transfer window. Several departures already validated, others to come, and some recruits expected. Here’s the update on the situation.
While waiting to know the name of the future Sang et Or coach, several players have already packed up. This is for example the case of Allan Saint-Maximin who chose to fly to North American Major League Soccer, more precisely to Charlotte. Wesley Saïd left for Qatar and Adrien Thomasson joined Stade Rennais. Concerning Mamadou Sangaré and Malang Sarr, a departure also seems inevitable.
As for reinforcements, there is already the certainty that Saud Abdulhamid will still be there during the next financial year since Lens has exercised the purchase option included in the initial loan contract with AS Roma. He will be joined in Lens by a former member of the club, Thorgan Hazard. Finally, Rémy Labeau-Lascary will return from his loan to Brest.
Lens would like to make a good move in the transfer window
According to Foot Mercato, the Racing Club de Lens still has certain ambitions for this transfer window. If it will be exactly the same type as last year (no crazy spending, looking for good opportunities), the Lensois market could materialize with arrivals on all lines.
The specialized media also indicated that recruiters did not rule out pulling off a big coup reminiscent of that achieved last summer with the arrival of Florian Thauvin. Qualified directly for the next Champions League with its second place in the final Ligue 1 standings, Lens will have to recruit smartly.
