Napoli confirm permanent signing of Hojlund from Man Utd

Manchester United have confirmed the permanent departure of Rasmus Hojlund, whose loan spell at Napoli has become permanent.

Hojlund joined the Partenopei on a temporary basis last September, with the Serie A giants obligated to sign him permanently if they qualified for the Champions League.

And, after finishing as runners-up to Scudetto winners Inter, Napoli have confirmed the terms of that deal have been met.

Reports suggested they paid a €6m (£5.1m) loan fee to United when they initially signed Hojlund, with a €44m (£38m) transfer fee now due to the Red Devils.

Hojlund has scored 16 goals in 44 appearances for Napoli in all competitions, matching the tally he managed in his debut campaign with United in 2023-24 (in 43 games).

Hojlund’s second and final season at Old Trafford was less successful as he only netted 10 times in 52 appearances in 2024-25, a campaign that saw the Red Devils finish 15th in the Premier League and lose the Europa League final to Tottenham.

The Denmark international joined United for €83m (£72m) from Atalanta in 2023, having scored 10 goals for La Dea in his only campaign in Bergamo.

He was part of the United team that won the FA Cup in 2024, coming off the bench in their 2-1 final win over Manchester City at Wembley, though his time in the Premier League was largely underwhelming as the Red Devils struggled for consistency under Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim.
