Manchester City draws an offer of 139 million euros for Elliot Anderson!

This is the hot issue of the moment in England: Elliot Anderson attracts all the big Premier League teams. But this Wednesday evening, The Athletic reveals that Manchester City has struck a first big blow. Indeed, City has once again gone on the offensive in the Elliot Anderson case. The Skyblues have made a new offer of around 123 million euros (139 bonuses included) to try to convince Nottingham Forest to sell the England international. A proposal which confirms the intensity of the negotiations around the 23-year-old midfielder, who has become one of the priorities of the Mancunian club.

Already targeted for several months by Man City’s sports management, Anderson has established himself as one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League. Revelation of the season and now international under the orders of Thomas Tuchel, he also attracts the attention of several English big names such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool. But according to the British press, Manchester City would have taken a head start, driven by the desire to quickly complete a file estimated at a high price, and this, even before the opening of the summer transfer window.

A difficult offer to refuse…

Under contract with Nottingham Forest until 2029, the player represents a central element of the club’s project, which intends to resist as much as possible despite the scale of the sums mentioned. Forest management are hoping to make the most of it to consider a sale this summer, while Evangelos Marinakis remains adamant in discussions at this stage. But faced with an offer which is now approaching the heights of the British market, the club’s position could quickly become difficult to maintain if financial and sporting pressure continues to intensify in the coming weeks…

On the side of Manchester City, this possible investment is part of a more global reflection on the reconstruction of the midfield, with several movements expected in the midfield in the medium term, particularly after the departure of Bernardo Silva. Mancunian leaders see in Elliot Anderson a profile capable of being long-term and quickly integrating into an already very structured collective. With a proposal of this magnitude, it is now difficult to rule out an agreement, even if internal competition in the Premier League and the still high demands of Nottingham Forest continue to make the file particularly complex. If the operation were to succeed, the 23-year-old English midfielder would quite simply become the most expensive British player in history.
