Mykolenko signs new three-year contract at Everton

Vitalii Mykolenko has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal at Everton and is confident the Toffees can continue to improve next season.

Mykolenko, who joined Everton from Dynamo Kyiv in 2022, will now remain at Hill Dickinson Stadium until at least the end of June 2029.

The 27-year-old has played 158 times for the Toffees in all competitions, a total only James Tarkowski (159) and Jordan Pickford (180) can better in that time.

Mykolenko started all 33 of his Premier League appearances in 2025-26, but Everton missed out on European football by four points after finishing 13th in the table.

However, Ukrainian international Mykolenko believes Everton can challenge again next season under David Moyes.

“I feel excited about signing this new contract – very excited and proud,” Mykolenko said. “I remember the first message I received from Seamus [Coleman] when I signed in 2022.

“I remember reading it and thanking him for welcoming me. He gave me that confidence immediately that I’m in a proper family here.

“In the first few years of my time here we were struggling, but our team, as a family – every person in the building gave everything to get through it.

“What we have now is stronger and we are getting better every season.

“For me, it’s most important to feel confident and feel comfortable in the environment and I have that here, so I’m really happy.”

Everton have failed to finish in the top half of the Premier League since 2021-22 under Carlo Ancelotti, while they last qualified for Europe back in 2017-18.

Their bid for European football last season was hindered after a poor run of form at the end of the campaign, failing to win any of their last seven games (D3 L4).

Moyes is aiming to improve his squad during the summer, with Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus and Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney linked with a switch to Merseyside.
